Wu Style Tai Chi

I think of Tai Chi as a “meditation in motion.”

The Wu Style Tai Chi that I teach is older than the small frame Wu Style most frequently taught. This style is a combination of Wu Style and Yang Style. It is comprised of a 108 moves. This practice was specifically developed to enhance and circulate Qi or vital energy. As we refine the form, we rejuvenate ourselves and cultivate health and vitality. Generating and circulating Qi can alleviate stagnation both physical and emotional, strengthen the immune system, and enhance overall well-being.

Research has shown that contemplative practices reduce stress and anxiety while increasing clarity, self-esteem, and short- and long-term memory. The Tai Chi class begins with a warm-up designed to open and relax the joints and develop elasticity of the muscles and tendons. We use Qigong exercises to coordinate breath, movement, and intention. The second part of the class is focused on learning and refining the form.
